CHEVS is a youth-led feminist collective advancing LGBTQI+ equality across West Africa. They build agency and power with young LGBTQI+ Africans to shape their own futures and boldly confront inequalities.
From the start, they've stood alongside resilient activists and communities championing the fight for justice, dignity, and equality. Together, they are not just imagining collective liberation — they are building it, one action at a time.
MISSION: They mobilise and strengthen LGBTQI+ communities for collective action towards achieving equality, freedom and justice, through movement building, advocacy, and narrative change.
VISION: A West Africa where everyone can live in safety, dignity and freedom, experiencing true liberation and abundance.
WHAT CHEVS DOES
They work to strengthen activists and organizations, helping them build the capacity and solidarity needed to respond to crises, combat injustice, and create a just and inclusive society.
Guided by principles of intersectional feminism, gender justice, and decolonization, they implement holistic strategies and initiatives rooted in traditional African practices and grounded in community realities. They address the overlapping identities within the communities they serve, ensuring their support is impactful where and when it matters most.
